In the 1730s, Jonathan Stratton settled on upper Concord Road and built a house that was probably just one room on the ground floor with a bedroom above. He and his wife, Dinah, had 12 children. They expanded the house. Stratton descendants continued to farm the land until about 1903, the year George H. Stratton died at age 77 while taking his vegetables and eggs by carriage to Waltham. This photograph was taken in 1898.
