The "Town Square" at Church Street and Boston Post Road was the heart of the community. To the left is the first town hall. To the right is the stone First Parish Church, inspired by the small country churches of medieval England that architect Robert Peabody saw on his travels in the early 1880s. Notice the horse drinking from the watering trough.
